MATERIAL NOTES / 01

What the surface
remembers.

A closer look at stone, wood and the marks worth keeping.

Open pores and softly veined travertine

STONE

A little irregularity.

Travertine is full of small openings. In Plinth, those pores sit beside a smooth rounded rim. The difference gives the bowl its character without adding ornament.

Keep stone away from lemon juice, vinegar and harsh cleaners. A soft cloth and a little water are enough for everyday dust.

WALNUT

Follow the grain.

Dark lines run around the Incline vase and across the broad seat of Bridge. Rounded edges let the grain turn with the form, so the material remains the first thing you notice.

Direct sunlight and dry heat change the colour over time. Leave a little distance from a radiator; wipe spills promptly.
